Digital art...

Post by Vencake »

I've been trying to switch to digital for so long but my art looks AWFUL compared to my handdrawn art. Don't get me started on lineart lmao

I swear this is a common problem. I've tried previous things like "just don't do lineart" but I want to start a comic one day. What I want to ask is if anyone has struggled with this and how you've overcome it (even if only slightly!)

Try looking into "vector" lineart, it makes lines that are possible to edit after youve drawn them to adjust position and thickness.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about but just about every modern art program has this option:

I struggle a lot with digital art too.... obviously use a tablet whenever possible, but you can always scan in your drawn lineart and color digitally!

「へへっ! ローラもめっちゃトロピカってる!」
「あたりまえでしょ。だって、私人魚だもの」
「もーっと一緒にトロピカってこー!」

Coloring traditional lineart is actually a whole lot of fun- I’ve done it a couple of times before, and the essence that remains is quite unique

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried since I last read this and I think coloring the handdrawn lineart is my go to currently. The vector lines work hella good though. I guess I was fighting what felt more natural to me!
