The only isekai anime I've watched is Kumo desu ga nani ka, because I am reading the manga. But the only character I liked in the anime was the spider. I think that all the reincarnated people were so over the top (like all isekais lol). But Kumoko is cute so I like her.
dude no way I really liked Kumoko as well! I also wanna add her to my relatable characters page, she's just like me fr fr Her VA made watching experience fantastic!

I get this feeling because I've watched so many stuff that I can't seem to remember all of them. I used to remember everything that I've have watched by memory but now I have to keep track on everything on anilist or I'll forget
I used myanimelist before but I've changed to anilist because they didn't accepted Korean webtoons in their site unless it was published by a "reputable" company and "Naver did not count because it was Search engine" (or something like that). So now that I am using anilist they are allowing webtoons and implemented this stack system. And now, I use both sites because I found out anilist doesn't allow recap anime in their site
Never tried Anilist and don't usually mess with Webtoons, so MAL is fine for me... but I never knew about the whole "reputable" company thing tho lol. Huh. That explains why I couldn't find some webtoons in the database.
This is ancient discourse, but I've always considered animation produced by a Japanese company for a Japanese audience to be "anime". So shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender are anime-inspired [western] cartoons and MDZS are donghua. It's my categorization system that makes sense in my head lmao. I like how donghua and webtoons / manhwa (and even LN) are included in MAL since there's high-interest overlap. But I also like how American-produced shows aren't included personally. Lol. Anyways like you were saying eariler, that kinda makes sense with how webtoons are, but it's a shame you have to use both sites because of recap stuff too.
Ame wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 7:03 pmThis anime I've watched has the same character design artist as Carole and Tuesday, if you liked their art style. It's a short anime (each episode is only 3 minutes) and it's mostly a picture drama than a anime. The story is just 4 couples (told by the girl's perspective) in their everyday life, but I think it was really sweet Also it's a shoujo, so perhaps you might like it.
this looks adorable! added to my list, thanks for the rec!

I'm sure Amy's thesis for PhD Shoujo studies will be accepted
I tried watching the live action ATLA too since I'm a big fan of the show. I personally also didn't find it awful but I only reached halfway before losing interest. I didn't like that they changed certain aspects of Sokka's character and also toned-down the series a little in terms of theme exploration. No one can beat the cartoon.
I heard about that change as well, and I also disagree with it. The whole point is that Sokka was dumb and wrong The cartoon was an extremely comfy watch last month. I enjoyed most of it and was very pleasantly surprised at the creativity of attacks and world-building.
spoiler!
One thing I will call BS on is how they heavily-imply at
the end that Aang and crew never killed anyone. Please. Are
you telling me Aang never killed anyone at the North Pole or the countless times enemies fell overboard??
I also thing that Aang should have killed the Fire Lord at the end and that Katara should have embraced bloodbending to save her people
But it's a kids show, so it's all good lmao. I mean we can just read fanfiction to get our M-Rated Avatar rewrites

i also loved her voice actor, the ending with her having a mock up idol show is awesome

There is another thing about myanimelist too, I don't know for how long you've been using it (I created my account in 2010), but the site changed a lot in these past years, it's too much commercial after it was sold to whichever company bought them. They used to have a small section in each anime's page with the info about which fan group were subbing it and they removed, they also added ads and there is too much commercial stuff now, while anilist isn't like that (I don't think that it even has ads but I used an adblock so I am not sure).
spoiler!
Also, the mods take forever to accept an addition of a new manga/edition of a manga, while in anilist it's faster. I also saw a mod once, in the forums, that was reaaally rude and said to a user that they wouldn't add yaoi manga because they didn't liked gay sex or whatever and that they would only accept the mangas that he liked it. I found this when I was searching why they were taking too long to accept my entries of Kaoru Mori's oneshots manga and I thought that this situation was really stupid and that's how I created my anilist account lol
But that's just my opinion, not trying to badmouth the site or whatever (I still update my entries there because anilist doesn't accept anime recaps in their db )

Yes I thought that was pretty off. What about all the damage did while Aang was in the Avatar state? Aang should have killed Ozai for sure. There's a real funny blooper in Season 2(?) where Toph does something that requires her to use her eyesight... and she's blind.

I've used MAL forever to look up stuff, but I think I made my account in uhhh 2018-2019? I want to share it with the NeoCities community eventually, but I want to clean up my profile a little and delete some cringe forum posts from 5 years ago.
The stuff in your spoiler is absolutely ridiculous. I swear I've seen it happen so many times where the mods are slow af to add something. But having a database for animanga is valuable information, that so freaking stupid for the mod to be biased

100%, that would go so hard for a kids show Thank you though to countless folks on AO3 who fix things like that *salutes*
Thoughts on Zutara vs Kataang vs other ships, Avatar friends? Shipping is pure entertainment to me, so I don't get offended when people like different things I love seeing how different authors imagine different pairings. I mostly like Zutara for funsies though

I am a Suki/Sokka diehard. I literally understand that Toph and Sokka have chemistry but I dont care!! Suki is perfect and jock/nerd ships are funny to me and wholesome
I think Zutara is pretty awesome actually. I also like Mai/Ty Lee, when Ty Lee betrays Azula to save Mai omg my heart... Ofc Cabbage merchant x cabbage duh.

Omg Zutara vs Kataang.... the wars that would go on in the fandom... I was only ever tangentially involved in the Tumblr fandom scene but by god were there rants to hand out. I've never been THAT into shipping and think people take it FAR too seriously. I am so out of date with modern-day fandom that I have to wonder if such wars still exist.
Anyway, yes I think Zutara had a lot of potential! I wouldn't have complained if they ended up together. But Kataang certainly works too. I agree with finny, Sokka/Suki works perfectly.
Has anyone also watched TLOK? I'm gonna give out a spicy take - I think Korrasami was forced and only made canon as fanservice. I might be biased though because I hate the enemies-to-lovers trope. The sequel comics were also just bad.

for real, when shipping stops being a fun side thing and gets so serious that people argue, whats the point?

Honestly, Korrasami could have been good, but as it actually was in practice was mediocre. As usual fan content had to do all the heavylifting.

No problem with cringe stuff, I've watch too much unquestionable anime as a teen and read unquestionable yaoi manga, I still keep everything there for the total count of anime/manga, but I wouldn't reread/rewatch them

You know what anime I keep meaning to finally watch? Gravitation. It's like 20 years old and I think largely forgotten but it was the first "yaoi" anime I ever came across. I only saw the first episode or two thanks to the dvd that came with the NewType magazine I occasionally picked up. I do have the whole thing now, but I wish I could find better quality than 480p.
