it's sooo been heartbreaking hearing everything that's happened to him. his partner passes away, and then he wakes up suddenly unable to walk due to a neurological condition? like, give my man a break, universe ;-; i'm actually not familiar with his rarities, but i just listened to woman at the well and it's incredible! i need to check them out, clearly. i've really just listened to his full albums, for the most part. i need to check out more of nada surf also, it sounds like! blonde on blonde is an all-time fave for me.
fr, and his mum's passing too. like pretty much all of carrie and lowell is about this very unstable relationship he had with her and even then he still loved her only to have to watch her die. everytime i think about all the shit hes been thru something else pops up! fr, if someone needs a break its him. Im glad you liked Women at the well, if you have some time I also really like Damascus, God'll Never Let You Down, Borderline, Waste of What Your Kids Wont Have, and some very sombre piano pieces just called Untitled (from All Delighted People Side D), hopefully you will enjoy them too. Do you have a favorite from his main albums?
Blonde on Blonde is so good! I think it was actually the first song I heard from them... Gosh, there's so many Nada Surfs songs I like but one of my all time faves is Weightless.
Wow I can't believe I missed all this Incubus talk. My latest jam from them is "Neither of Us Can See", specifically the Monuments and Melodies version, not the duet version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ske4QyrXcU8
I'll be forever seeking out Fungus Amongus and the other very early CDs. I can't believe you found one, humanfinny!
I'm seeking out 3 Japan albums that I think I'll actually end up paying money for ;_; please donate them to the thrift store for me. I need them so badly.

Niether of Us Can See is so good, thank u for sharing, hat!
Yes, it was a gift so I was lucky haha. Otherwise I'm also having a bit of a hard time finding my dream albums too. I really love 32 Leaves but like none of their CDs are on sale anywhere! At least mp3s survive...
I hope you can come across stuff for a good price, I want to order some stuff from discogs next month but am a bit nervous.
@humanfinny oh man, I've never heard of 32 Leaves before, but you're right on these being impossible to find for a decent price. I'll keep my eye out for their name. They're up my alley too.
It feels like every discogs seller is in Europe so their shipping prices are excessively painful. I've had some luck finding albums that are hard to find in the US on suruga-ya. I just ended up importing the 3 Japan CDs from them a few days ago. They have a few Incubus albums that I was considering buying too, but the possibility still exists to find those in person. They did have Fungus Amongus when I checked! I've found both Make Yourself and Morning View twice in my thrift store searches, so I wouldn't worry too much about those.
Also, always wait for free shipping events if you use suruga-ya. They have more time with free shipping than paid shipping.

omg finally another 32 leaves enjoyer haha!! i hope you come across something, they r so underrated.
i actually didnt realize that so many sellers where in europe... i live in france so that should actually be good but im not looking for too many european bands these days sadly so cant take advantage of that lol. thanks for telling me about suruga-ya, i actually never heard of it and it looks super promising. yeah, nothing is as good as picking it up in a thrift store haha!
@humanfinny ah! France! What's it like collecting CDs over there? My advice for CDs might not apply outside of the US. My new wave obsession would work well in Europe, but I don't know how popular 2000s American rock got there.
Over here in the US, a lot of thrift stores sell them for $.50 to $3 and you just have to sort through country and Christian music for hours to find the good stuff. The hunt is fun for me. I end up buying a lot of CDs from bands I've never heard of and sometimes you win, sometimes just 30 seconds is enough. There's vintage and record stores here, but they mostly sell vinyl and CDs are a second thought.

its pretty good! yes lots of new wave, synth, britpop. I think the best find for me was this Tokio Hotel album (I was never a fan but I could not resist the nostalgia, I have way too many summer camp and Tokio Hotel related stories...). I rarely come across a CD more expensive than 1 euro and if I do I haggle. Finding hidden gems is fun as heck! Finland was also a great place for CDs, they had lots of big and spacious thrift stores (not that "vintage" type where everything is overpriced but really cheap stuff and you could get pretty much anything, we and my roommate got all our kitchen gear from those lol).
yes, vinyl are more ... i don't know, respected? lol... they are more sought after here as well. I buy DVDs too, also super cheap. I dont live in a metropolitan area so sometimes the option feel pretty scarce but a good find feels all the more sweeter too haha
@humanfinny Ah!!! Tokio Hotel!! My bf found me one in a thrift store here and I was so happy! Next time he can find me one that is in German. They really were iconic back then. I admit I've bought quite a few CDs for nostalgic purposes too. 1 euro a piece sounds like a fine price. When I went to Germany in 2009, I found a pile of sealed CDs at a regular store for 5 euro a piece and I went WILD because that price was better than the used CDs we had in the US. Europe must just be a great place to buy music in comparison.
I've met a few zoomers who talk about loving thrifting and then find out they're buying recently made, bought off Amazon t shirts for $20 at the "vintage" store. I didn't realize there were 2 definitions of thrifting before. The people setting up these shops must be making a very nice profit.
