Wow Billabong is a deep memory. It kind of disappeared from stores after a while! I miss MP3 players so much. I actually got mine in about 2013 haha! Kept using it until 2020-2021. Nowadays when I look for MP3 players, it's junk from China that will operate for two hours before dying.Ame wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 5:48 pm I am a bit late for this thread but here is what I remember:
Billabong (I think that this is a international brand) and Capricho (a female clothing brand and a site and a magazine lol) brands were everywhere, Billabong was mostly for sweatshirts and backpacks and Capricho had an underwear that had "Capricho" written next to the waist area. Literally every girl had this panties in middle school lol (I didn't but I never liked that brand btw) and Billabong I had completely forgotten about this until I saw someone at college with a Billabong backpack.
Mp3 and mp4 and mp5 players! I had all of them LOL the mp3 was like this model above but silver, the mp4 was a copy with an ipod and the mp5 looked like a smartphone and it even had touch screen and a pen. Everyone in school had one of these (or an original ipod but these were expensive).
I loved these players, the batteries would last longer than a modern smartphone and they're smaller and easy to carry. After my last player died I searched frantically for a replacement but I couldn't find them any more (that was 2013 and I still can't find something similar, I just stopped listening to music completely when I outside my house ).

i loved quicksilver, billabong, roxy, and rip curl. my parents wore lots even tho none of them surf lol. i actually picked up a tee from a thrift store that just has the billabong logo on the front and a huge print of a sunny beach with all sorts of tropical decals on the back lol. i would love to buy a mp3 player but all new options suck or are super pricey and old ones dont go to well with larger SD cards. hopefully something will come along...mima wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 6:28 am Wow Billabong is a deep memory. I miss mp3 players too. I still technically own my three ipods, but I don't currently have access to them. I need to send some money to my friends up north so they can send my stuff to me. o3o;

I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses mp3 players Every time I see someone listening to music at college or on the bus they're using their phones, so I thought that just me that haven't moved on from mp3s but a smartphone battery don't last as long.CooperationIsKey wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 4:38 am I miss mp3 players too. Anyway, I didn't know billabong was a surfer brand lol everyone in my school used this brand and no one surfed (I even thought that this brand was Brazilian at some point because of the funny name, but I'm probably spelling wrong too).

Re: Trends (Old and New)
Speaking of mp3 players, apparently there's a modern mp3 player on Amazon that's been going kinda viral for being used as a mini kindle, complete with protective case that you can decorate, at the moment. Someone was talking about it on another forum (Gaia Online lol) I'm on.
I'm real tempted to save up for one. Maybe it'll help encourage me to read more if I have a dedicated device and not just my phone. Plus I can still listen to music on it without running down my phone battery.

This mp3 player looks like a smartphone, it has apps and internet connection. I liked the simplicity of the mp3 player that we could just listen to music (but I get the point that people listen to music with spotify now, and I used to download it on emule ). Anyway, I just complaing because it's too expensive in my country's currency, I'd have to wait to a cheaper competitorCooperationIsKey wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:08 am Speaking of mp3 players, apparently there's a modern mp3 player on Amazon that's been going kinda viral for being used as a mini kindle, complete with protective case that you can decorate, at the moment. Yeah I thought the 'mini e-reader' idea with it was kinda cool, plus the price isn't too unreasonable. I haven't seen the new sony ones.humanfinny wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 9:10 pmhey that looks pretty neat! ive seen some at our local tech store too but still not sure if i'll get one, honestly i would kind of like one of those new sony ones but they are waaaay expensive
Yeah, that's understandable. I generally buy and download my favorite songs but I have so much different stuff I listen to I just can't afford it all lol, so I end up streaming a lot on Spotify or YouTube. And yeah, that's understandable too; it's still something I'd have to save up for a while probably.Ame wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:57 amThis mp3 player looks like a smartphone, it has apps and internet connection. I've had all three of these ipods back in the day; the pink one (from 2008 I think?) I actually had a custom operating system on and could play videos, albeit very low quality! So when smartphones became a thing and I could play videos and music and everything else on a phone, I was pretty stoked... but I still miss my ipods. They were fun.
Re: Trends (Old and New)
I had a mp4 player similar to this pink ipod model, in black colour (idk why but it was called a mp4 player), I also had one that was a copy of a ipad/smartphone, it was touchscreen and even had a pen (it was also called a mp5 btw lol). But it fell down and broke the screen in less than a month and I got the mp4.CooperationIsKey wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:39 pm

About phones, I had this Sony Ericsson that my aunt give to me on my birthday when I was in high school (if it wasn't this model, it was similar). And it was the first phone that I had that could record videos and take pictures. I thought that it was awesome and recorded random things until I got bored
Also, when I was in high school, one of my friends took her sliding keyboard phone (I don't remember the model, so the image is just a similar phone). It had a keyboard, and it could access real internet and msn, and I thought that it was awesome because of that. Then people started using smartphones and I thought that touchscreen was cooler than a physical keyboard, but now I think that a keyboard is looks cooler.
Where I live is normal to download media online because it's surreal how much tax the government put in everything here lol I used to download music a lot, but now I use Youtube more. I found out that Youtube don't remove videos in the "Topic" channels so I just create playlists using these videos or from the original artist.humanfinny wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:44 pm
