hey mima, for some reason the spoiler tag doesnt work when im quoting someone so just saying this is responding to you haha:

argh that sucks, my fave thriftstore is closed until september sadly so I feel that haha. Hopefully something good will come up for you! Which of your collection do you like most/recommend me to listen to first?

long ass unnecessary commentary below lol:
spoiler!
heres my latest finds (no particular order):
Image

1. Live - Throwing Copper
When I saw this I snatched it so fast! I didn't even care that the guy was asking for 2 euros per CD (I'm usually a 1 euro 1 CD bargainer). Love this album, best tracks: I Alone, Lightning Crashes, Selling The Drama, All Over You.

2. Avril Lavigne - Let Go
Best Avril album, hands down. When I was like 13 or something I saw her in Guangzhou. Best day of my life. Favorite tracks: I'm With You, Complicated, Mobile, Sk8er Boi, Tomorrow, Losing Grip (Best song!!!!).

3. Jimmy Eat World - Chasing Light
Not their best album but still good, I'm less familiar with it but I love love love Bleed American.

4 & 5. Radiohead - Kid A and The Bends.
The only missing Radiohead albums from my collection! Lucky af find. Pretty much every song is a masterpiece. But from Kid A: Idioteque, How To Disappear, Everything In Its Right Place. The Bends: Just, High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Street Spirit.

6. Lauryn Hill - Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
So good. Doo-Wop, To Zion, Superstar.

7. Hole - Celebrity Skin
Recently saw drama that if you like Nirvana and Hole at the same time you are fake or something. Does anybody actually believe that? Kurt and Courtney were both pretty fucked up by life and I think they still really loved each other (speculating obv), things can just go really tragically sometimes, it's so dumb to keep pitting them/their bands against each other... Best tracks: Awful, Celebrity Skin, Hit So Hard, Malibu.

8. Nek - Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto
I really love 90s/2000s Italian rock and pop. It's so dated but so beautiful. Nek also sings in Spanish I think. Best tracks: Laura non c'è, Sei grande, Vivere senza te, Sei.

9. Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust.
I only really knew their song Truganini which I liked a lot. So I decided to learn a little more through this album. Conclusion, best tracks: Beds are Burning, Dreamworld, The Dead Heart.

10. R.E.M. - Green
REM is pretty nostalgic to me, I remember when me and some classmates competed who could sing as much of It's The End of The World As We Know It without stumbling lol. This album also has my favourite song: Orange Crush.

11. Indochine - Le Birthday Album
So many bangers. My faves: Les tzars, 3e sexe, L'aventurier. I just took my French A2 exam by the way, the teacher said I did well on the speaking part, I had to talk about myself and then try and buy a discount card for the train. Unrelated, sorry.

12. K's Choice - Paradise In Me.

I only knew the song Not an Addict when I bought this album but its actually a little hidden gem. The vocals are beautiful. A Sound That Only You Can Hear, Mr. Freeze, Song for Catherine, Iron Flower.

13. Silverchair - Frogstomp
They a lil edgy but its a very nice album. Best tracks: Tomorrow, Pure Massacre, Shade, Suicidal Dream.

14. Snow Patrol - Wildness
I prefer Snow Patrol's earlier works but this album is actually pretty good. Best tracks: Empress, Heal Me, Wild Horses.

15. Friday Night Lights OST Volume 2

This one has one Sufjan Stevens song on it. So I got the entire disc...

It's okay! You can still quote someone but remove most of the contents of their post. Lauryn Hill is nostalgic, her solo songs and work with Fugees went on the radio all the time. I keep forgetting about the existence of Italian music  I've listened to some Italo-disco and 90's pop and it's very catchy! And well done for taking your French exam. I'm sure you'll get good marks!

Since you like grunge and other 90's metal/rock, I wonder if you'd be into 70's hard rock? Comparatively it's a bit softer and "lighter", but I like it nonetheless. KISS's album "Hotter Than Hell" might be up your alley. "Goin' Blind" especially is a song that sounds quite grunge.

ohhhhh, yes! i have a decent sized record collection at this point, which i've tried to maintain by only buying music/albums that i *love*, but it turns out there are a lot of those. does anyone else use discogs? my collection is all on there (way too many to post here) i'll edit this later with pictures of some of my favorites, but i usually stick to: 1) if there is a color vinyl option that isn't crazy expensive, i'll get that bc...i like pretty things? and 2) if there is an original release that is affordable and listenable, i get that sometimes for older albums because i like having a piece of history in a way, something that a fan in the 70's or whatever would have taken home. i'm not too serious about it, but it's a lot of fun for me.

jessica you just accidentally sent me on an adventure lol!! I browsed your discogs, I see you have Javelin, Age of Adz, and Let Go. Very nice Im not jealous at all  anyway, I decided to check in with my discogs because I havent used it in a while. Can't remember which email its tied to... Discogs asks for my username... which I cant remember at all!!! Im trying random usernames that I think may be right, nothing works... Then I hatch a dumb plan, I look up a very obscure CD the ex-boyfriend of my auntie gave me in 2012 because there is only 7 Discogs members that have it. Yay I find my username lol...

anyway I added you, is that ok? btw do you like Nada Surf or just the Let Go album?

I don't know how much 70s hard rock I know but I do really dig stuff like Chilliwack, April Wine, Dire Straits, and Flamin Groovies from the 70s but I don't think that's really hard rock, now that I think about it I think Im more familiar with 80s stuff haha (I really love the Replacements, The Sound, The Chameleons, Grapes of Wrath) ... Though I don't mind lighter or harder stuff. I love whiny indie and emo and also post-hardcore and stuff also. I just listened to the entire album and its super good! Im not too familiar with Kiss but I do like Strutter and I Was Made For Lovin' You. I really like Goin' Blind, Hotter Than Hell, Watchin You, and Mainline from the album. Thanks for the recs mima!

hahaha omg incredible internet sleuthing skills :D oh man, i loooooove sufjan. i realized awhile back that i somehow never got any of his albums, and maybe overcompensated a bit. i've always been a fan, but i went extra crazy for javelin ugh it's just such a masterpiece.

i haven't listened to a lot of nada surf outside of let go, but i've been meaning to for ages D: i've liked what i've heard of theirs, but haven't taken the time to do a deep dive yet. i really need to do that soon...and yes! absolutely ok! none of my friends ever seem to use discogs, so i'm excited to have a friend on there

no no no, overcompensate? too much sufjan?? thats not a thing . yes javelin is amazing, i remember reading his tumblr post about his late partner and he got sick after too. poor sufjan, he has it not easy at all. i dont know if you listen to his rarities much but Im actually obsessed, like Woman at the well is probably my favourite song.

i looooove nada surf! they have a new album coming out in september and I want to pre-order it (ive never pre-ordered anything before...). They are kind of a band with no misses for me and the singles i heard so far have been great.

yes, mine too! I am a solitary CD collector around these here parts lol  .

Hi Jessica! I do also use discogs. I don't know why it completely escaped me to link it here but here it is. I don't use it to interact with people but feel free to add me if you (and anyone) would like. T. Rex!! I love Marc Bolan <3 I'd love to get more into 70's glam rock. I really love your collection. I have a few colour releases myself, but I try to go for original pressings as well if possible. I love love love seeing pictures of people's collections so please do share!

Oh I used to be into 80's glam metal! Dokken, Ratt, Def Leppard, Motley Crue were those I listened to casually. KISS also has some great glam metal albums (in my opinion anyway). I'm glad you liked it! I just listened to your Incubus recs and loved them too! Megalomaniac has got to be my favourite pick, it's heavy just how I like it!

it's sooo been heartbreaking hearing everything that's happened to him. his partner passes away, and then he wakes up suddenly unable to walk due to a neurological condition? like, give my man a break, universe ;-; i'm actually not familiar with his rarities, but i just listened to woman at the well and it's incredible! i need to check them out, clearly. i've really just listened to his full albums, for the most part. i need to check out more of nada surf also, it sounds like! blonde on blonde is an all-time fave for me.

oh my gosh i looveee LOOOVEEE t. rex & marc bolan!! they're literally one of my favorite bands ever, but so few people i talk to even know them! i'm a huge fan of 70's music in general, especially glam rock. your collection makes me really want to check out more 80's japanese music :) i listened to a few just within the last year that were recommended by friends, and i looooved them: akiko yano - tadaimai & tomoko aran - fuyuu kuukan

i have pictures of some of my albums, i really need to dig them up and post
