Static site generators?

I recently saw a webring for 11ty and other ssgs and it prompted me to try them out.

I tried Hugo, hated it, and then dropped it. Has anyone had experience with any other ssgs? It's so alien to me. Something I could do relatively easily is now hard because I can't find how to change it!

No experience, but I'm aware that Jekyll is also a static site generator if you'd like to have a look at that.

There's some good templates for it, I still can't get around how different it is. I wish I kinda learnt these first over from the ground up. I see a lot of 11ty too so I might try that next. I'm just hopping from one to the other atm ;-;
